The consumer price index (CPI) released by the United States Bureau of Labor and Statistics(BLS) today showed a 9.4% increased in food prices, the largest since 1981. The earnings of the labor force decreased 2.6% and rent increased 0.5%.
What will working class poor do? The average citizen must now choose between food and shelter? By default they will eat less healthy and it will result in medical issues and a crazy cycle that affects the core family and society at large. Some may say that this cycle is not new so why the alarm. The alarm is that it is 2022 and there is no reason for the wealthiest country in the world to not have a handle on healthy food production and lower prices.
Is anyone asking about the inflation effect on the lower middle class and poor. They are already stretched thin and to have rent increased about 17% over the past year and income not meeting these increases and let's not forget the supply chain issue, how will they survive.
The president in his inflation speech, stated he will work with the federal reserve to reduce inflation and curtail price gouging as much as possible.
